Candida albicans
Candida albicans u određenom broju kolonija raste u crijevnoj flori i prisutna je u svakom od nas. Nalazi se u ustima, probavnom, mokraćnom i genitalnom traktu te na koži (1). Zdrav organizam drži razinu Candide pod kontrolom jer dobre bakterije kontroliraju broj gljivica i sudjeluju u njihovoj eliminaciji (1). Candida se pojačano množi uslijed narušenog imunološkog sustava, zbog poremećene crijevne flore, loših prehrambenih navika (previše šećera, pšenice, kvasca, fermentirane i procesuirane hrane), zbog stresa, prekomjernog korištenja antibiotika te sredstava protiv kontracepcije (2). Sve to dovodi do kandidijaze – infekcije Candidom i uzrokuje ozbiljne zdravstvene probleme.
Pomoću svojih korijena Candida se hvata za crijevni zid i ako se tada ne zaustavi njezin rast, buši crijevnu stjenku i stvara sićušne rupice u crijevnom zidu. Rupice omogućavaju nepotpuno probavljenim proteinima, toksinima te Candidi ulazak u cirkulaciju i širenje po cijelom tijelu. Radi se o sistemskoj kandidijazi i ima loše učinke na imunološki sustav (1). Najteži oblik infekcije Candidom je Candida- septikemija i radi se o trovanju krvi i infekcijom svih organa. Pogađa osobe koji boluju od po život opasnih poremećaja (1).
Žene su podložnije razvoju infekcije Candidom zbog anatomije ženskog tijela. Infekcija često zahvaća bebe koje se mogu inficirati putem majčinog mlijeka kao i djecu zbog povećanog unosa šećera.
Što pogoduje razvoju Candide?
Prehrana
Moderan i ubrzan način života poremetio je prehrambene navike, a glavni krivac je sve prisutni šećer koji se nalazi u slatkišima ali i u gotovoj procesuiranoj hrani i pićima. Ostali krivci su: ugljikohidrati (posebno ako sadrže kvasac), stimulansi (kava, čaj ili alkohol) koji dovode do otpuštanja adrenalina koji mobilizira šećer iz krvotoka.
